Players who excel in AIFF National Championships (U-13/U-15/U-17) are scouted by ISL academies. A parallel route exists through the Hero Junior League (HJL) and AIFF-SAI residential academies at Goa and Bengaluru. The ISL is the apex — only players with professional club contracts at ISL or I-League clubs can participate.
