Age Cut-off Rule
Age group is generally determined by the player's age as of the start of the BAI season (1st April) for domestic ranking tournaments; individual tournament circulars specify the exact cutoff date, so always check the circular for that event.

Players must first register with their State Badminton Association to receive a BAI-ID. Unlike open-entry sports, most BAI ranking tournaments and championships are nomination-based — the state association nominates a capped number of players per age category based on state-level ranking or trials, so state-level performance directly gates access to national events. Always confirm nomination and entry deadlines directly with the state association, since these are set independently by each state and are typically 3–4 weeks before the tournament.
